Candid Photos

The cornerstone of photojournalism is candid shots.
Candid shots, also known as candids, are a photographic way to document events as they happen. Each candid shot tells a unique story.

Candid images serve various purposes; they can reveal emotions, human character, interactions between two people or social status Each candid photo has its meaning and it is based on a photographer's vision. Candid shots are the main tools of any wedding photojournalist and they are a reflection of his or her vision. Each candid photo has a special meaning and their sequence creates a story of the wedding day.

Occasionally, candid photography sometimes is mistaken for a series of snapshots shot by the photographer during the wedding day. Snapshots are usually limited to facial expressions and will often make people laugh; while, candids are based on a variety of photographic techniques, mixed with a clearly set purpose of documenting the event with a photographer’s unique vision.
